Meet the folks who steward the threads of
our shared work

Erin Myers Madeira

Erin leads the Collaborative for Right Relations. Erin is a facilitator, coalition builder and navigator. Erin brings 20 years of experience building collective commitment and action at the intersection of conservation, Indigenous stewardship, sustainable community development, and complex systems change. 

Maya Hoffman

Maya is Operations Manager at the Collaborative for Right Relations. Maya is a graduate in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and a board member of the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust. Maya is a passionate sailor who mentors young women and girls in high-level sailboat racing, and volunteers for many organizations that advocate for maritime sustainability and gender equity in sailing.

Stan is part of the leadership council for the Allyship in Education project. Stan is faculty emeritus in Native American Studies and Literature at Cabrillo College and author of many books including We Are the Middle of Forever: Indigenous Voices from Turtle Island for the Changing Earth.

Violet Smith

Violet, Rumsen Ohlone Tribal Community, is part of the Collaborative for Right Relations Steering Committee. Violet is an apprentice to master basketweaver Linda Yamane, with whom she researches and revitalizes traditional Rumsen Ohlone practices. Violet serves as a California State Parks Interpreter in the Monterey District, where she specializes in indigenous programs.

STEERING COMMITTEE

Jeannette is part of the Collaborative for Right Relations Steering Committee. Jeannette is the President and CEO of Big Sur Land Trust and board member of the California Council of Land Trusts. Prior to her work with Big Sur Land Trust, Jeannette worked in the American Samoan Islands documenting plants used by traditional women healers.

Jeannette Tuitele Lewis

Crystal is part of the Collaborative for Right Relations Steering Committee. Crystal is a mediator and lawyer in Pacific Grove, where she was born and raised, and currently lives with her family. Crystal can be found volunteering on multiple boards, coaching kids sports teams, and mobilizing action to build a stronger, more connected community.
