We are rooted in Monterey Bay as we build partnerships and enable shifts in practices across California. We are also committed to broader national and global conversations. By strengthening shared understanding and institutional readiness, we help ensure Indigenous leadership and engagement continue to be elevated in land and waters stewardship, regardless of changes in political or funding landscapes. 

Impacts taking root

Across all our work, we have found that our greatest and most consistent impact is in helping people, organizations, and diverse groups shift mental models, build relational fabric, increase organizational readiness, and cultivate the clarity and agency to step into right relationship.

25,000+ Acres

Since 2023, partners have influenced 29 collaborative projects with Tribes, including 16 land trust–Tribal partnerships accounting for more than 25,000 acres. These include ancestral land return, co-management agreements, access for ceremony and harvest, Indigenous-led restoration, and cultural stewardship practices.

Rematriation, Underway

From these strengthened enabling conditions, concrete rematriation projects are emerging, grounded not only in new agreements, but in systems of reinforcing norms, relationships, and institutional commitments.

$3M+ Raised

Participating organizations have raised more than $3 million in collaborative funding and supported the creation of 11 Tribal stewardship and education positions.

A First for California

Structural shifts are taking root. A negotiated MOU resulted in the first official state acknowledgement of a Tribe's ancestral lands in the Monterey Bay region, ensuring access and partnership in land management into perpetuity.

Built Into the Bones

Network organizations have advanced earlier and more substantive Tribal engagement in conservation processes, supported a county pilot compensating Tribes for consultation, and embedded dedicated Tribal engagement roles within their structures.
