January 24th 1-3PM is the second virtual gathering as part of Walking the Path of Right Relations: a Learning Journey for Leadership. This session will focus on the California context for right relations across conservation and Indigenous Groups. We will be joined by Dr. Phil Laverty
Philip Laverty holds a doctoral degree from the University of New Mexico in cultural and linguistic anthropology. He began researching Native history in the Monterey Bay region 30 years ago for his honors thesis in anthropology as an undergraduate at UC Santa Cruz, which focused on Native experiences of Spanish missionization. After graduation, Phil worked as the Park Interpretive Specialist at the Mission Santa Cruz State Historic Park where he promoted the interpretation of the impact of Spanish missionization on indigenous peoples.
